There have been several photo and production studios popping up in neighborhoods across Houston, all of them encouraging photographers, stylists, and models to collaborate and let their creativity run free. 

Each space has something different to offer, from special lighting to equipment and pricing. But these rentals aren’t your typical department-store photo studios. These spaces were pulled out of a creative’s daydream and are well equipped with backdrops and props to help Houstonians bring their own visions to life. 

We’ve compiled some of the city’s picture-perfect studios that’ll make your artistic visions a reality.   

Nestled in the Downtown Warehouse District, Studio 713 is a full-service creative content facility that specializes in audio, video, and photography production. They’ve produced a number of music videos for artists, including rappers Travis Scott and Don Toliver. This studio will get you right with company headshots, album covers, and of course, photos for your Instagram feed. To book a session, call 713-640-5428.

Northside and Humble | 33 Lyerly St  and 6020 N Sam Houston Pkwy 

With two studios located in Northside and Humble, The G.A.T.E. Photography is a customizable studio space offering a range of colored backdrops, a royal throne chair, and the freedom for clients to design their own photo sets. This space is ideal for individuals looking to plan birthday, graduation, and maternity shoots. Starting at $35 an hour, clients can rent out their own studio space and add on extras like colored backgrounds and props. Lighting is not included in the initial studio fee, but Neewer Universal strobes/flashes and colored and ring lights can be added on.   

With a facility that spans 2,500 square feet, The Houston Rental Studio’s modern space boasts large windows that provide a flood of natural light, white flooring, and brick walls to further complement the minimalist space. If a rustic vibe is more your style, the studio’s warehouse keeps the building’s original 1950s design intact, with historic brick and a large steel garage door to bring a raw feel to the space. Studio rentals for both spaces start at $75 an hour and can be booked online . Backdrops, reflectors, and other equipment are included in every rental at no additional charge.

Memorial City | 1151 Brittmoore Rd Unit B Blossom into your creativity among floral backdrops and picture-perfect props. Located in Memorial City, the Houston Flower Wall Company is an event and photography space that’ll bring a colorful and classy touch to your Instagram feed. Flooded with crisp, natural lighting and a blend of contemporary, earthy decor, Prauper Studios offers over 2,000 square feet of photo-worthy spots. The two-story space comes with an assortment of chairs, stools, and backdrops along with staged set designs upon request. Photography studio rental starts at $50 an hour.

Conroe |  15475 Pin Oak Dr Transport into the intricate designs and luxurious world of old Europe at The Oak Atelier. Located just outside of The Woodlands, this estate is a professional photography studio, event space, and woodworking shop. The facility offers four different studios for rent: The Oak, The Elm, The Alder, and The Willow, with each space bringing its own European charm thanks to details like antique furniture, Spanish tile, white oak floors, and stunning chandeliers. Rates start at $75 per hour, with add-ons like Persian rugs, beds, and hand-painted backdrops available. Photoshoots can be booked online .   

East Downtown |  800 Sampson St, Ste 100

With various locations across Texas, The Lumen Room studios are the spot for minimalist and modern concepts. Housing its Houston studios in East Downtown, The Lumen Room is a solely natural-light space. The studio offers two rental packages: White and Lifestyle, with rates for both starting at $85 an hour. Regardless of what package you decide to book , your photos will be complemented with a clean, white loft aesthetic.

Downtown | 1109 Providence St This spacious, 11,000-square-foot warehouse is constantly bustling with photo shoots, events, and art showcases. Located in the heart of downtown, SANMAN Studios provides a blank canvas for clients to truly customize their own shoot. There are several spaces available for rent , with Studio C starting at $45 an hour. Individual photography and videography studios vary in size, with the largest housing 300 people. Lighting for each studio ranges from trigger lights to LED panels and aperture lights. As at any creative studio, add-ons like backdrops are available; however, SANMAN steps it up by also offering projectors, a circular stage, and even allowing clients to drive a car into the studio.  

Sween Shots Studio provides a sleek space for photographers and videographers to thrive. With one-hour reservations starting at $75, the Midtown studio illuminates with natural lighting and amenities like a modern kitchen, portable backdrops, and assorted props all included in the reservation. The studio also provides a membership program with various packages ranging from $200 to $645 a month. Membership plans include access to all props and equipment for a set range of studio hours per month.

South Side | 8443 Almeda Rd, Ste Z Vision Light Studio comes equipped with its own hair and makeup station, a range of lighting equipment, and with a cyclorama (Cyc) wall that adds an illusion of infinite space to any photoshoot. Rental rates start at $55 an hour and include all of the studio’s amenities and equipment such as light triggers, v-flats, colored backdrops, and more. Those who envision a more royal feel can add on a throne chair for $50.   

East Downtown | 3420 Rusk St, Ste 16

Built with the intention to empower all creatives, this EADO studio is packed with aesthetically pleasing props and natural lighting. Superb Studio is an elegant, blank canvas space that allows visionaries to let their creativity run free and compose their own stories. The studio houses three rental spaces, Room 16, Room 14, and Room 14 A, with rates starting at $50 for 30 minutes. Equipment like v-flats, chairs, and a white sofa are available for use.
